Client Brief:

The client requested excavation work on all sides of a new home situated on a site with steep terrain and limited access. The project presented challenges due to the need to carefully navigate existing infrastructure and underground assets, including NBN cables, power lines, and a sewer main connected to a pump station.

The steep, long driveway was a significant concern as it had not been originally designed to handle the terrain or weather conditions. It lacked the appropriate type of gravel for stability and durability, and there were insufficient culvert pipes to manage water flow. Additionally, there were no effective table drains to control runoff during heavy rain, resulting in water cascading down the road, forming deep ruts in the gravel and causing washouts.

Key requirements included:

Additionally, the project required close collaboration with the homeowners to ensure all new works blended seamlessly with the existing landscape.

Agreed Solution:

After extensive discussions and detailed planning, the agreed solution addressed each aspect of the brief with precision and care. The project was broken into several components:

  1. Retaining Wall Construction
A robust retaining wall was built along the entire rear of the house to stabilize the steep slope and prevent erosion.
  2. Stormwater Management
A tailored stormwater system was installed, including agg drains, pits, and culvert pipes to direct runoff safely away from the house. Table drains were formed to manage water flow along the gravel driveway.
  3. Driveway Redesign and Repairs
The steep gravel driveway was completely resurfaced with the correct type of gravel for stability and longevity. Culvert pipes were installed to handle water flow effectively, and table drains were designed to control runoff during heavy rains. These improvements eliminated the issues of water running down the road, forming ruts, and washing out the gravel.
  4. Parking Area Expansion
Driveway access was widened to accommodate two vehicles, ensuring more convenient and safer parking.
  5. Front Garden Development
A large boulder wall was constructed at the front of the house, creating a level and visually appealing space for a garden.
  6. Sediment Control
A small sediment trap was built to capture runoff from the driveway, ensuring cleaner water flows into the nearby creek.

Throughout the project, our team worked closely with the owners to refine the design and align the new works with their vision. The homeowners praised the high quality of craftsmanship, particularly with the stonework, and appreciated the attention to detail and commitment to delivering a harmonious and durable outcome. They were especially impressed by how we incorporated their ideas and executed the project to the highest standard.wners praised the high quality of craftsmanship, particularly with the stonework, and appreciated the attention to detail and commitment to delivering a harmonious and durable outcome. Client Brief:

  1. Retain Upper Bank: Construct a retaining wall to secure the steep bank above the parking area.
  2. Access & Levels for Deck: Adjust levels and improve access to the deck area following recent building extensions.
  3. Upper-Level Parking: Create a flat area at the top for parking trailers and other equipment out of the way.
  4. Carpark Retention: Retain the carpark on the lower side, considering the large concrete water tank.
  5. Firewood Storage: Design an alcove specifically for firewood storage.

This project aims to enhance functionality and safety while addressing storage and access needs.

Agreed Solution:

Our team delivered a comprehensive and high-quality solution that not only met but exceeded the client's expectations. The client was thoroughly impressed with our work, appreciating the care and attention to detail we brought to every aspect of the project. In fact, they were so satisfied that they entrusted us with additional tasks to further enhance their property.

Beyond the initial brief, we:

The result is a beautifully functional and secure outdoor space that reflects our dedication to delivering outstanding results tailored to our clients’ needs.

Client Brief:

Our client sought a solution to improve the cross fall on their driveway, enhancing both safety and functionality. The project involved building up the road base by 750mm and securing the elevation with a sturdy boulder retaining wall. Additionally, the client wanted a level area excavated for a new shed, creating practical storage space. During the construction phase, the owners also envisioned a fire pit sitting area, seamlessly connected to the lawn with large, natural sandstone steps for easy access.

Agreed Solution:

Our team developed a comprehensive plan that met each of the client’s requirements. To address the driveway’s cross fall, we built up the road base by 750mm, using a robust boulder retaining wall to support the increased height and ensure long-term stability. For the new shed, we excavated and leveled a designated area, providing a solid foundation. Midway through the project, the owners requested a fire pit sitting area. We integrated this addition, crafting a cozy, natural space on the lawn and adding large sandstone steps to create an inviting pathway from the driveway.

The completed design not only improved driveway functionality but also enhanced the property with a stylish outdoor feature, fulfilling all excavation and landscaping needs. The client was highly satisfied with the results.

Client Brief:

Looking for professional excavation and garden landscaping services in Lindisfarne? Our client needed to remove a failed 1.2-meter high treated pine wall that had collapsed. The project also included widening the driveway to accommodate two cars and excavating an upper area for a planned timber deck entertaining space. The client also wanted a functional and aesthetically pleasing means of access from the parking spot to the upper level.

Agreed Solution:

Our excavation and landscaping team collaborated with the client to design a robust sandstone boulder retaining wall. This two-tiered wall not only replaced the failed treated pine wall but also seamlessly integrated with the planned entertaining area at the front of the house. We removed the collapsed wall and a portion of a large gumtree's root system, gaining an extra meter in driveway width for dual-car parking. Large, landscape-style stone steps were installed as a front access walkway to the upper deck level. During construction, we also rerouted stormwater pipes to accommodate the new design.

The client was thrilled with the outcome, particularly impressed by the size of the boulders and the steps. The entire design harmonized perfectly with the new deck, fulfilling all excavation and garden landscaping needs in Lindisfarne.

Client Brief for Tranmere Project:

Our task was to manage a challenging steep slope flanking the driveway and create a convenient landing and back door access.

Agreed Solution:

Given the site's limited access and lifting constraints, we devised a unique solution. We combined short boulder walls and strategically placed stones to complement native plantings and hold bark mulch in place. Importantly, a sandstone block retaining wall was constructed at the slope's base, featuring an aggregate drain to manage stormwater run-off directed towards the home. Additionally, we installed a split-level sandstone block wall near the back door. The clients were extremely satisfied, leading us to secure a project with their neighbours.
